Giving Thanks

Updated: Dec 22, 2024

It's the most wonderful time of the year! A time to gather with neighbors, friends, and loved ones to celebrate the spirit of the season. A time to give thanks for our special community, with its shared history and shared bonds unique to our small village. A time to appreciate the open space that surrounds us, a respite from the hustle and bustle of the times.

It is our privilege to serve the Marshallton community as we work to promote the history of the Village, maintain its sense of place, and protect the open space and natural resources of its environs. During this time of gratitude, please accept our sincerest appreciation for your continued support, which enables us to propel our mission into action. Together, we will continue to preserve the past, protect the present, and plan for the future.

You've Made an Impact

The Marshallton Conservation Trust's accomplishments in the areas of Open Space Conservation, Historic Preservation, and Community Events are a direct result of your continued support. Thank you!

History Spotlight:

50th Marshalton Triathlon

On October 6th, the Village of Marshallton welcomed more than 1,000 triathletes and spectators to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Marshalton Triathlon—one of the longest-running triathlons in the country. It was a beautiful day of sunshine, friendly competition, and a strong sense of community as participants pedaled, paddled, and paced along a scenic 10-mile route in Chester County. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our sponsors, volunteers, participants, and the amazing Marshallton community for keeping this cherished tradition alive for 50 years and counting.

Community Spotlight:

Thanks to the incredible artists, our generous sponsors, property owners and Mother Nature, who gifted us with a beautiful day, the second annual Art in Marshallton: Plein Air Event held on September 21st was enjoyed by all! A special thanks to Geralyn Robinson and Cendrine Gemberling for their efforts in organizing this wonderful event for our community. Proceeds from this event benefit the Marshallton Beautification Project spearheaded by the Community Concerns Committee of the Marshallton Conservation Trust.

Conservation Update:

Embreeville Property

Jack M. Hines, Jr., Chair; Laurie W. Abele, Supervisor; Kevin Houghton, Vice-Chair; Justin Yaich, Township Manager.

Congratulations to the West Bradford Township Board of Supervisors and Township Manager for being recognized for their efforts in Open Space Preservation, particularly for their work to preserve the former Embreeville State Hospital Complex.

After years of litigation, negotiation, remediation, demolition, and cleanup, the Township announced on July 12, 2024, that it had successfully closed on the Embreeville real estate transaction. “The complexity of this project and the investment of time cannot be understated. This marks a monumental moment, not only in the history of Embreeville, but also in the history of West Bradford Township,” stated Jack M. Hines, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

As always, we will keep our Marshallton community updated on progress with the Embreeville Property through our communication channels, including our monthly digital newsletter, Facebook, and website. Stay tuned!
