With food insecurity on the rise in our area, organizations like the West Chester Food Cupboard serve as a beacon of hope to more than 9,000 neighbors who will rely on its services over 30,000 times in the coming year. This vital support is only possible through the collective efforts of community members who step up to care for one another, strengthening the sense of place that defines Marshallton.
.
These small acts of kindness create a powerful ripple effect throughout our community. As Rob Necarsulmer, Vice Chair of the West Chester Food Cupboard, shares:
The increasing rate of food insecurity in our area has resulted in a significant rise in the number of our neighbors needing food assistance. The West Chester Food Cupboard relies on the support of the community to address these needs. There is no better example of an organization with a warm heart and community spirit than the Marshallton Conservation Trust. We are so grateful for their consistent and generous support.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to our 6th Annual Valentine’s Day Food Drive. Thanks to your generosity and the tremendous efforts of The Goddard School of West Chester - Village of Marshallton and Marshallton United Methodist Church, we collected 786 pounds of food and staples and raised $1,780 in cash donations this year alone.
Over the past six years, our community has contributed an incredible 3,578 pounds of food and staples, along with $9,480 in cash and gift cards. That’s the true power of community.

Community Spotlight

Spring is just around the corner, and with it comes the opportunity to roll up our sleeves and care for the places we call home. There are several volunteer events planned throughout West Bradford Township to beautify our shared spaces as we strengthen our community spirit.
Even small acts of service can have a big impact. By volunteering, we can help protect our waterways, improve open spaces, and preserve the natural beauty that makes Marshallton and its environs so special.
History Spotlight:
America250PA

As we continue to recognize the stories shaping America250PA Chester County, we are pleased to highlight an upcoming book discussion at the Chester County History Center focused on the powerful, and often overlooked, role of women in the American Revolution. Readers are welcome to engage with as many or as few of the selected books as they wish, with titles that range from broad historical overviews to deeply personal narratives.
Featured books include:
Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation by Cokie Roberts
Liberty’s Daughters: The Revolutionary Experience of American Women, 1750–1800 by Mary Beth Norton
Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge by Erica Armstrong Dunbar
Masquerade: The Life and Times of Deborah Sampson, Continental Soldier by Alfred F. Young
As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, programs like this remind us that history is not only about dates and events, but about the individuals whose courage, resilience, and conviction shaped the course of our country and continue to inspire us today.
